F.C BAROMETRICS RES  0  THE BEECHES 2 ( Brunton , Smith )

The Beeches started their Cheltenham League campaign with a good away win to F.Barometrics Reserves

Starting strongly The Beeches were creating chances from the early minutes of the match, Mitchell Stone was soon into full flow on the right hand side of midfield overlapping with Stratford left too attack the left hand side of the oppositions defence, although he and his younger brother Adam Stone on the left seemed to have the beating of their opponents the final ball was quite not good enough for the forward players to get a clear shot or header on target.

The midfield three of Power, Adam Mansell and Smith were winning a lot of the ball and releasing Joe Mansell to run at the heart of Barometrics defence. A few chances came and went with the best being a header by Smith just missing narrowly the other sider of the left hand post. The defence of Fragnoli, Warriner and Stone looked comfortable and with that in mind the holding player was withdrawn and the forward King introduced to play alongside Joe Mansell and the two were soon linking up only to halted several times by the linesman flag.

For all the play Beeches couldn't break the deadlock and half time arrived with neither side able to score

The second half started with Adam Mansell coming back on with rolling subs now being allowed in this league to replace Brooks, Beeches went back too three at the back a system they are well drilled on so they could press more for the opening goal. Barometrics best effort of the match came from their striker when he unleashed a shot from the edge of the box which Heaven in goal had to dive at full length to push around the post.

Brunton was introduced and it was he who broke the dead lock after a Joe Mansell through ball allowed Brunton to slot home past the advancing keeper. After going one nil up The Beeches seemed to get a bit rattled and let the Barometrics back into the game, The match was finally sealed in the dying minutes when lasts seasons top scorer Smith bounced to score with a composed finish

THE BEECHES 11  ANDOVERSFORD 1

( M.stone 4, Smith 2, J.Mansell 2, King, Walters, Power )

The Beeches have quickly found their feet in Division 2 of The Cheltenham league and hit 11 past Andoversford Reserves to go top of the table.

Andoversford did not really offer any threat in the first half as they conceded 5 goals without reply. The goals included a hat-trick from left back Mithchell Stone who was superb going forward as well as when required to defend.

At half time 3 Beeches subs were came on : Joe Stratford, Adam Brookes and Matty Walters. Using the rolling subs in the second half Beeches were able to give every member of the team plenty of playing time.

Another six goals followed after the break and it could have been more had it not been for Andoversford keeper Collinson pulling off a string of stunning saves

The Beeches then conceded their first goal of the campaign when a long ball from the Andoversford defence bounced over the previously untroubled centre backs and although the initial shot was saved by Ryan Heaven striker Ellison was able to put away the rebound

All in all a good all round display and performance with the goals spread between the six players

PITTVILLE UNITED 0  THE BEECHES 9

( Smith 3, Stratford 2, Walters 2, A.Mansell, J.Mansell )

The game was played on a 3G Pitch and the first time The Beeches have ever played a league match on an artificial surface

The game started slowly for both teams but it was not long before The Beeches soon took a likely to the surface and played some flowing football and opened the scoring early

Another two quick gaols followed in succession making the half time score line 0-3

The second half was a dominate performance from the boys in tangerine, not allowing their opponents Pittville much of the ball, Beeches continued to press home there superior football advantage and with some good play and finishing scored another 6 goals to record their third straight win in the League and another valuable 3 points in their quest to progress to higher football

Goal scorers : Scott Smith hat-trick Joe Stratford 2, Matthew Walters2, with brothers Adam and Joe Mansell each scoring

THE BEECHES  2  BREDON RES  2     ( Smith, Adam Stone )

With Bredon first team not playing they used the rules of the league and played the maximum permitted 3 senior players to strengthen there team against an inform Beeches team

Some inspired goal keeping and resolute defending by Bredon meant that the Beeches dropped their first points of the season so far. The Beeches started well forcing Bredon onto the back foot with both Beeches wingers Startford and Stone causing their opposite full backs all kinds of trouble.

Several chances were missed or saved before Smith was able to dance around 4/5 Bredon players before placing the ball into the bottom corner. Beeches then had a good penalty appeal turned down when Stone was tackled from behind in the box, Bredon came back into the game just before half time when a cross was met by first teamer Bridges who's shot was dispatched into the Beeches net.

A lot of the early exchanges in the second half were in the middle of the park with both sides trying to take charge of the play. A succession of Ian McSheery corners from both sides of the pitch saw several goal line clearances and missed chances but in the 75 minute Adam Stone was able to fire home an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box curling the ball away from the keeper into the right hand side of the goal.

Bredon fought back again scoring from the edge of the 6 yard box through Sibanda . And if not for a brilliant save in the dying minutes by Keeper Heaven the Beeches could have lost all three points

THE BEECHES 0 CHELTENHAM CIVIL SERVICE RES 4

A weakened Beeches team suffered their first league defeat of the season against a strong well organised Cheltenham Civil Service outfit

The Beeches never got going unlike previous weeks and were second best in all departments. CCS always looked quicker and won of the midfield battles, the vistors first goal came from a break down the right and a straight cross ended with a simple finish from Costerton.

For much of the first half the game was played in the middle of the park but just before the break a scramble in the goal mouth resulted in a penalty being awarded for a challenge by Rastelli adjudged to have kicked a plyer in the head, Smith - Hutchinson scoring from the spot after a valiant effort from home keeper Heaven getting hand too the shot, only for the power and placement to beat him.

Matt Walters entered the game at half-time but within two minutes was adjudged to have given another penalty away allowing Smith-Hutchinson to add his second spot conversion

The Beeches did rally but couldn't find the finish and were restricted too some long range efforts. 10 minutes before time centre back Warriner was given his marching orders for his second offence and late tackle.

Alex Hale added a fourth to make it a good day for CSS and too remain unbeaten with no goal against them being scored to date

FINTAN 1st  1  THE BECHES 5    ( J.Mansell 3, Smith 2 )

After 2 disappointing results The Beeches got back to winning ways with a fine 1-5 away win to Fintan. Beeches started brightly and were one up inside 9 minutes when Joe Mansell's shot from the edge of the box beat the diving keeper.

With rolling subs Beeches introduced Smith there top scorer after 15 minutes and he was an instant success as he avoided several desperate challenges to stop him before going on to score. Then after neat work down the right by Mant and Walters a low ball was played across the box and with a neat step over by Smith at the same time drawing his markers the way was left clear for Mansell to claim his second of the game.

After half time Fintan had there best spell and scored on 55 Minutes but they then had a player sent off which Beeches soon took full advantage of , further goals from Smith 63 minutes and Mansell 84 Hat trick completed the scoring  and give The Beeches three more valuable points to there total

THE BEECHES 3  NEWTON 1   ( McSherry, Brunton , Power pen )

A dominate, high intensity performance from The Beeches saw them progress to the next round of the Junior Charities Trophy

The Beeches started strong, dominating possession and tiring out the opposition with slick on the deck passing. However it was Newton who took the lead midway through the first half with a quickly taken free kick from outside the box as Beeches were still organising their defence. It nearly went from bad to worse as they conceded a penalty a couple minutes later , the resulting spot kick was consequently missed as it struck the bar and went over

Beeches then pushed on and levelled the scores after a lovely flowing move from the back involving most of the team was clinically finished by centre forward Ian McSherry

Beeches ten took the lead after Joe Stratford was fouled in the box after showing good pace , skipper Power stepped up and cooley slotted home

15 Minutes later Beeches then grabbed the third as Power delivered a freekick that the keeper spilled and was left too Nath Brunton to follow in and score

The rest of the game was seen out comfortably against the Cheltenham Division 1 team, some lovely football ensured the home club too progress into the next round

CHELTENHAM CIVIL SERVCIE RES 1  THE BEECHES 3 ( Smith, J.Mansell, J.Stratford)

The Beeches travelled to unbeaten Civil Service and were to make amends for a 4-0 defeat a couple weeks ago leaving Beeches sitting pretty at the top of the league. On a wet and windy day on a perfect surface  both teams produce a fast pace that continued for the whole of the ninety minutes

Cheltenham Civil Service took the lead midway through the half from a corner after poor defending and a lapse of concentration from the Beeches. beeches continued top press high and move the ball quickly and soon reaped the rewards as Joe Mansell wriggled through multiply challenges before  whipping a great shot into the top corner from just out side the box to make it 1-1

Beeches then took the lead in the second half when Scott Smith the clubs and league leading scorer bent a screamer past the keeper from outside the penalty area

Civil Service kept pressing to find the equaliser and beeches soaked up the pressure and dealt with everything they had to offer with some resolute defending from Beeches back line.

Joe Stratford grabbed the last goal after beating two men and showing a clean pair of heels to the flailing defenders before slotting home to make it 3-1 and earn three valuable points in what was a must win match

The Beeches 4 Gala Wilton Res 3  ( Smith 2, Stratford, Walters )

Another entertaining game saw the Beeches come out on top against mid table Gala Wilton, taking all three points

Beeches started strong, seeing them dominate possession and create many chances in the early minutes.

The opening goal inevitably came for the Beeches after fifteen minutes as  Stratford grabbed his fifth goal of the season in all competitions as he skipped through the Wilton defence and smashed the ball home from just inside the box. Gala Wilton stayed in the game and managed to level the scores as the ball was held up and laid into the patch of the on coming Gala player to smash home from 10 yards

Beeches top scorer Smith then took the lead as he nut-megged his marker inside the area before beating the next defender and slotting home through the advancing keepers legs to make it 2-1. Yet again Beeches let Gala back into the game as they managed to level the scores after a long throw in was not dealt with the ball was eventually poked home to make it 2-2 before the break

Beeches took the lead after 20 minutes as forward Matty Walters latched onto an ariel through ball and smashed the ball home first time to make it 3-2

Beeches continued to dominate play with some nice football but Wilton came back again and eventually levelled ten minutes from time to make it 3-3 and set up a nervy end to the game for both sides

Scott Smith stepped up to the plate once again and walked onto a tempting bouncing ball which sat up perfectly for his ferocious volley which found the top corner from 30 yards ensuring wild celebrations from the home players and spectators and ensure beeches remain top of the league

FC BAROMETRICS 3 THE BEECHES 2  (Power Walters )

The Beeches travelling away to play one of there nearest rivals in the Cheltenham League never learnt from there league match where unsporting tactics where to play a big part of the result in this encounter, beeches lack of discipline and experience in these situations need to be quickly learnt if they are too continue to strive promotion this season, as players suspensions may cost them dearly

Beeches started well and dominated the early exchanges with out threatening the goal.

The were to take the lead however when skipper Will Powers curling free kick into the crowded box eluded everyone before finding the bottom corner

Baromerics soon drew level although Beeches felt hard done by the referee who failed to award a blatant foul against Moorcroft , the refs actions  allowed the striker to press on before Moorcroft in frustration brought him down , the spot kick was converted to make it 1-1

the second period began the same with beeches dominating with out creating chances to score, the game soon became even harder when Warriner was booked for the second time for kicking the ball away and being a key player at the back again let himself and the team down by having to play with ten men.

Ten minutes later Matt Walters played a blind back pass to his defender who was not on the same wave length leaving the Barometrics player free to run on and score to make it 2-1

Beeches chased the rest of the game but where to leave themselves open to the counter attack as a long through ball saw keeper Ryan Heaven sprint off his line but miss the ball as the striker nipped in before him to score and make it 3-1

Beeches still had time to pull one back through Matt Walters but it was too little too late and a game where mistakes and lack of discipline cost the Beeches dearly

The team hope to put things right this coming Saturday at home to FIntan who themselves were in good from beating Siddington 5-0 at the weekend

The Beeches 2 Fintan 0   ( Smith , Stratford)

The Beeches are still sitting pretty at the top of the table and looked back to their best again with a score line that flattered the visitors Fintan. Returning central defender Dan Fragnoli looked rock solid next to his partner in crime James Moorcroft who kept a steady defence through out the game. Beeches moved the ball quickly in wet conditions inviting some lovely sliding tackles to made by both teams

Beeches dominated possession and much of the play in all areas throughout, the opener came early into the first half as a ball over the top saw the lightning quick Joe Stratford take the ball under control and then calmly slot the ball under the keeper to make it 1-0.

Beeches again started the second period on the front foot keeping the ball from the back whilst strangling the visitors  of any real possession and threat. Scott Smith leading scorer eventually got the second mid-way through the half as he took down a high ball on the spin and beat the Fintan defence as he slotted the ball into the bottom corner with the outside of his boot

It could have been 5 or 6 but credit to Fintan who kept working hard and stayed in the game until the end

Hanley Swan 2  The Beeches 11   ( Smith 3, Walters 2, J.Mansell 2, J. Stratford 2 , Robinson & King

Another good  Performance from The Beeches saw them comfortably beat third place Hanley Swan and keep their lead at the top of the league

Quick passing and good defensive work saw a very one sided game with Joey Mansell and Scott Smith playing neat one two's cutting through the Hanley Swan midfield with ease for the much of the game. It was a very one sided game throughout with some beautiful goals scored during the process. Beeches defence kept the hosts at bay for the majority of the game with good work from Robert Mant, Dan Fragnoli, James Moorcroft and Brad Robinson

With too many goals to describe the list of scores were Matthew Walters 2, Joey Stratford 2, Joey Mansell 2, Alex King helped himself to one while Scott Smith scored a hat-trick and Brad Robinson with pick of the bunch and his first for The Beeches.

The goals worthy of a shout were Matty Walters into the top right, Joe Stratford's cruff turn and low drive, Scott Smith's free kick and Brad Robinson screamer from 35 yards also a free kick

The Beeches 3  FC Barometrics 2    ( Smith, Stratford, Stone Mitchell )

A vital game in the season, with both teams having beat each other this season, swung the way of the Beeches and opened up a three horse race at the top of Cheltenham Div 2

The Beeches started okay keeping possession, but struggled to penetrate and create clear cut chances early on, Barometrics were always chasing the game but had a few chances to live on, mainly mistakes from the men in the orange

Barometrics opened the scoring from the penalty spot after a ball from wide was played across the penalty box with beeches keeper Ryan Heaven colliding with  the oppositions striker, the penalty was tucked away into the bottom left making it 1-0.

The scores were soon level as Joe  Stratford made it 1-1 with his 9th of the season as he was held back he still managed to convert the chance another unseen foul by Referee Daly who went on to book several of the Beeches players and a couple of the opposition where a good talking too at times would have been punishment enough.

Mitchell Stone went on to make it 2-1 with a nice finish to end a flowing move and saw Beeches take the drivers seat and start controlling the game with more ease after good defensive work from Barometrics

Alex King then went on a tricky run beating two players and squaring it from the left for top league scorer Sott Smith to poke home between the goal keepers legs to make it 3-1 and effectively game over. But barometrics to there credit pulled one back late on to still give them a glimmer of a hope which was shut down by the referees final whistle

The Beeches 3 Hanley Swan 2  ( Power 2, Stratford )

The Beeches  came up against Hanley Swan for the second time in a matter of weeks, with the visitors fielding a much stronger line up than in the first meeting which Beeches won comfortably 2-11

The Beeches dominated the first half, with the major share of possession and the visitors barley getting a sniff of the action. In the 30th Minute, Hanley Swan conceded a free-kick yards from the box which led to skipper Will Power striking the ball and converting his effort in off the post to put the boys in Orange 1-0 up. Joe Stratford then made it 2-0 with great control he brought down an aerial through ball before powering the ball home to make it 2-0. Power then stepped up to convert another free kick after forward Adam Brooks was brought down on the edge of the box, Power's powerful effort taking a deflection on the way through to goal and finding the net to make it 3-0

The Beeches made two changes at half time which saw the introduction of Matt Walters and Alex King. Hanley Swan managed to pull a goal back and get themselves back into the game, capitalising on Beeches complacency and managed to make it 3-2 with ten minutes remaining. Ryan Heaven in home goal had a much busier second half and kept the home side in front with some fine saves and a clean pair of hands made sure everything that came his way he dealt with when coming off his line

The Beeches managed to hang on and see the game out in another win which now looks like making the league a two horse race

Southside Star FC  3  The Beeches 4     ( Power 3, Warriner )

Another great game for the neutral saw an incredible comeback from the visitors showing fight until the very end on a freezing cold day with a heavy and boggy pitch to match

The first half started with Beeches unable to control the game and focusing more on defending their own box as Southside Star piled on the pressure. It wasn't long before they took the lead as a cross from the right hand side took two deflections from Beeches players before it was smashed home to make it 1-0 to the hosts. Before long it was 2-0, a stoke style long throw in was converted to show daylight between the two teams. Beeches then thought it was game over as another cross from the right side came across the six-yard box and was tapped in by the Southside forward to make it 3-0 to end the first half

Needless to say Beeches needed a team talk desperately and it showed the way they started the second half. The Beeches came out the blocks flying and within a couple of minutes had pulled one back with Power chasing a through ball beating two men before slotting home at the near post from the edge of the penalty box. Dan Warriner was pushed forward from his defensive duties onto the right wing, this move was rewarded when Dan latched onto a through ball and fired home ferociously into the far corner to make it 2-3 with 30 minutes still remaining. Skipper and midfielder Will Power who in the past fortnight has found his shooting boots made it 3-3 with a free kick that the keeper should have done better with.

With ten minutes remaining Beeches took the lead and made it 3-4 as Alex King went for a 50/50 challenge with the keeper the ball broke loose to the inform Power who stroked home into the unguarded empty net to complete a well deserved hat-rick

The Beeches held on and showed great fight spirit and determination to get another 3 points in the league and remain top

Tewkesbury Town 2 The Beeches 1  Charities Junior Cup Quarter final

                                  ( J.Mansell )

With Beeches ground being unfit due to the Snow leaving it waterlogged they were forced to play away and kick off was at 4-00 pm with the game being played on an all weather pitch

playing against Division 1 Opponents Tewkesbury a top three team was always going to be a tasty clash against The Beeches who are currently flying high in Division 2, but because of a late kick off and other commitments it meant both teams could only field the bare eleven player each. Leaving no linesman

the Beeches started well Stringing together some neat one-two's through the middle of the park creating a few decent chances early on. And it was Beeches that broke the deadlock through Joey Mansell after a flowing move saw him finish off the move with a strike from just inside the penalty box.

Ten minutes later Tewkesbury were level from a corner as the Tewkesbury centre half finished on the six yard line unchallenged

The second half saw Beeches with the majority of the ball and Tewkesbury threatening on the counter attack. Tow or three more clear cut chances for the Beeches were not converted and it was another set piece that saw Tewkesbury Town take the lead as the ball dropped at the back post and was hooked home into the far corner by the home striker putting them through to the semi final

Gala Wilton Res 1 The Beeches 6

After the close encounter earlier this season few would have predicted this score line

Gala Wilton barely troubled the Beeches, apart from in the first 2o minutes where Gala went 1-0 up through some dodgy play at the back from Beeches resulted in an own goal. It didn't take long before Beeches were level as Power floated a free kick in from the half way line which was plucked out of the air by Mitchell Stone and slotted home to make it 1-1. Good passing and movement from Brooks, Moorcroft and King in the first half made it look promising for the Beeches going into the second half with Adam Stone a constant threat down the left side

Beeches really pushed on in the second half and within 5 minutes were in the lead as Joey Mansell ghosted past two defenders and finessed a lovely shot in to the far corner. Before long it was 3-1 Joe Stratford running onto a bouncing ball and lobbing the keeper. Five minutes later through good work from Adam Stone it became 4-1 as he squared the ball to Joey Mansell who finished with ease

Beeches really got into there stride and the score line could easily have been a lot higher with great passing and movement and pressing opened up the home defence. Ten minutes from the end Power beat two men and passed the ball inside the centre half to Stratford who finished neatly.

Mitchell Stone then bagged his second as Joe Mansell slipped him through to make it 6-1, the final score

Senior Charities Cup

The Beeches 2  St Pauls 2  ( King and Mansell )   St Pauls won 4-5 pen

Match played at Siddington Ground

This cup tie was a match between two informed teams Beeches currently top of Cheltenham Div 2 and St Pauls top and unbeaten in Div 3 and a side that has not been beaten in last 64 matches during ninety minutes, as expected the game was very close and was to end in a thrilling penalty shoot out

Beeches started much the stronger team dominating possession and keeping the ball on the deck playing fast flowing football that St Pauls couldn't deal with and it wasn't long before The Beeches took the lead through their playmaker Joey Mansell with an outstanding effort which found the top corner from 25 yards.

Beeches continued to press on to look for a second and it was ten minutes later when a whipped Power free kick from the left hand side saw Alex King latch onto and finish neatly.

St Pauls managed to get a hold of the game through a hopeful long ball that was not dealt with defensively, resulting in a free kick on the edge of the box which was dispatched through a crowd of players to make it 2-1 going into the break

Beeches failed to take control of the second half and especially couldn't deal with several long balls being sent in by St Pauls back line. St Pauls equalised ten minutes from time with another long ball not dealt with St Pauls forward finishing what would be the last goal in ninety minutes

the shoot out saw Smith, Mansell, Moorcroft and Power score only to see the unlucky Brunton miss , with St Pauls scoring to win a very close match and go through to the next round

Andoversford Res 3  The Beeches 5  ( Smith 2, Mansell, Stone Mitch, Warriner )

To an outsider, this game would have been a dead and buried affair even before kick off, Top against 2nd from Bottom in Cheltenham Division 2.  it was far from it ...

Andoversford took the lead within 20 minutes as a long throw into the box took an unfortunate nick off Beeches central defender Dan Warriner to make it 1-0 to the hosts. Beeches didn't take long to equalise as Dan Warriner stayed up on the attack and managed to latch onto a loose ball and fire home to make amends for his own goal. It was not long ball that undone beeches defence as it bounced around and it was finally poked home by Simms to make it 2-1. Scott Smith the leagues top scorer them made it 2-2 with a low free kick and just before half time Andoversford went a head as a lapse of concentration and persistence from Wright paid off it to make it 3-2

beeches started the second half strongly and did well to play football on a bogy pitch that continued to cut up as the game went on, they easily penetrated the Andoversford defence with the slope in there favour. Nearly half way through the second half Beeches finally got there equaliser through Mitchell Stone who was to score with a pile driver into the top right hand corner from a tight ankle, Beeches really pushed then for the winner and they looked only one outcome , Joey Mansell who had a spectacular game put Beeches ahead scoring his 15th of the season after some nice build up play he finished tidy from the edge of box

Scott Smith wrapped up the points with a header an effort the keeper should have stopped to finish the match 3-5
