WELCOME TO THE BEECHES FOOTBALL CLUB NEWS

END OF AN ERA

Sadly The Beeches Football Clubs committee has had to take the decision to disband their club for this season 2018-19. After finishing joint top of Cheltenham Division 2 the players and management made the decision not to continue leaving the club with no players. Mick Ricketts the clubs secretary who has been with the club for 45 years and Rod Benson the Club Chairman for 30 years would like to thank all players and committee members and managers over the years for there service making the club a well know friendly local club.

Sadly Mick says sadly more and more great clubs some over 100 years old haven folded over the past 20 years and sadly he can only see things getting much worse. Over the past few seasons he has expressed his worries to not only the GFA but the FA and had little or no response especially from the FA.

Mick and Rod hope that some day the Beeches club may once again reform maybe there might be some young lads in the future who live on the local housing Estate the Beeches like Mick did all those years ago wanting to play together

Picture: Champion flat jockey Paul Hanagan is seen on board Wootton Bassett:

Wootton Bassett has recently been retired to stud in France while Paul is again leading the jockey title challenge, with only days to go.

Club Secretary Mick Ricketts who has been a horse racing fan for most of his life, wrote to Paul a few months ago to ask if he would sign the above picture for him.

Mick was over the moon to receive not only Paul's autograph but also a donation of £100 to The Beeches Football Club. Paul was himself a very good footballer but decided a career in horse racing best suited his size, Paul who supports Liverpool Football Club says he will also be keeping an eye out on our results.

All club members would like to wish Paul all the very best in his challenge to retain his Champion Jockey title.
